Beautifully Unbroken Counseling, LLC is dedicated to serve First
Responders and Veterans. This practice helps to increase Post-
Traumatic Growth, reduces the stigma of mental health, and
increase a healthy balance when First Responders can no longer
compartmentalize and feel “Broken”. Led by a culturally competent
clinician and her trusty chocolate lab, Erin and Bella are here to help
First Responders and Veterans feel “Unbroken”.

I always say that "therapists go in the field for a reason.... we usually just don't disclose it". I've had multiple
complex reasons I became a therapist. After surviving and thriving from my own traumas. I wanted to be a
therapist that people felt comfortable talking to. I take a humanistic and client- centered approach and pride
myself on being genuine and authentic and having a sense of humor.
I have been in this field for 17 years. My area of specialty is working with Fire, Police, Corrections, Dispatch, EMS,
and Veterans. I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and also volunteer and serve on the Central
Massachusetts Critical Incident Stress Management Team as its Clinical Director. My goal is to get my clients back
to their shifts and feel some relief. Trauma reactions are normal. It is a normal reaction to an abnormal event.
I grew up in a first responder and veteran world. I liked it so much that I married into the job. I have come to
understand the culture of these jobs well, which is an important step into connecting with my clients.
I have an incredible assistant named Bella; a chocolate lab puppy who is in training to become a therapy dog for
the practice. She also comes from a family of First Responder dogs! She currently going through all required
training to become a certified therapy dog. She is always eager and excited to meet new people, and even offers a
hug when needed.
I am currently working on my EMDR Certification and I completed all required basic training through the
Humanitarian Assistance Program I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing,
and 12 Step Programs.
When I am not at work I love spending time with my family, friends and dogs. I love to dance (all types, mainly
ballet), music, art, reading and dog training.
I currently only see Adults 21+ and only do individual therapy.

Bella is a American Chocolate Labrador Retriever. She
was born on June 22, 2023. Bella has been working
since she was 8 weeks old. She is currently in training
to become a Certified Therapy Dog. She has been
attending beginner and advanced training classes
since 12 weeks and continues to have private lessons to
achieve our goal. She loves coming to the office to
make friends with everyone she meets. She has never
met a person she doesn’t like, nor has never turned
down a good belly rub. On her days off she loves going
for walks, playing with her brother and sister, chasing
balls and loves “searching” for scents.
By the time she turns 2 years old, she will hopefully be
able to test for her Canine Good Citizenship in Summer
2025 and then begin the prep work for the Therapy Dog
test.

I am now offering EMDR sessions both online and in-person to First
Responders and Veterans. I was trained in EMDR Level 1 in
September 2023 and in EMDR Level 2 in March 2024. I was trained
by the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP). I seek ongoing
consultation supervision with a EMDRIA Certified Consultant (which
is a requirement for being trained in this modality). I am working
towards my EMDR certification.
I take a collaborative approach with my clients and pace
sessions as slow or fast as my clients want them to go. My
goal is to have my clients leaving lighter than when
session began. Although EMDR can bring up alot of
emotions, images, memories and sensations, the goal is to
leave therapy feeling good. Clients are completely in
control of the session. Think of putting one foot in the
past while one foot is in the present.
Prior to starting reprocessing in EMDR, clients will great a strong
therapeutic rapport (which is key), create grounding and coping
skills and build resources for healthy coping to use throughout.
Bringing up these emotions and sensations in the body are difficult;
but the outcome is worth it.
“Eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) are used during one part
of the session. After the clinician has determined which memory to
target first, he asks the client to hold different aspects of that event or
thought in mind and to use his eyes to track the therapist’s hand as it
moves back and forth across the client’s field of vision
As a natural outcome of the EMDR therapeutic process, the clients’
thoughts, feelings and behavior are all robust indicators of emotional
health and resolution—all without speaking in detail or doing homework
used in other therapies".

- Asked Questions
Your first appointment will consist of reviewing all the forms you completed in your client portal prior to intake. This will include consent
forms and all practice policies. Your first appointment will be about 60 minutes and will be about getting to know you, your history and
identifying how counseling will be beneficial to you.
Yes; due to various illnesses going around, especially during peak flu season, if you are sick or live with someone who is sick or contageous,
you must contact Erin to either reschedule or have a virtual appointment. This includes any sickness from the common cold to covid. As this
office is a healthcare facilitiy and there is many immunocompromised individuals that enter the building. If you are sick, please do not come
into the office.
What if I am sick and can’t come to the office?
Yes; If you miss more than 3 sessions in a row, your case may be closed to services. If you do not maintain appointments for more than 90
days, your chart will be closed. If you cancel in less than 24 Hours or No Show to your appointment, you will be charged a $75.00 fee.
Is there an attendance policy?
Virtual sessions use the same program that is used in the office. Every client will be given access to a private and secure link for
“RemotEMDR” EMDR appointments, earbuds or wired earbuds are required. Additionally, due to the structure and the requirements of EMDR,
it is required to be using a laptop, desktop, or large tablet in order to use the RemotEMDR program.
How does Virtual EMDR work?
Appointments can be opended through the Therapy Notes Client Portal. The program works best on Google Chrome browser but can be
used on any device. Please make sure that you are by yourself for your appointment, distractions are limited and to ensure privacy,
headphones are suggested.
How do virtual appointments work?
Some people prefer in-person sessions and others prefer online. If you are seeking services from a distance from the office, virtual therapy
may be beneficial. Virtual counseling is helpful when you or your therapist are sick or there is in-climate weather so the therapy process can
continue. Virtual counseling is done through a HIPAA compliant program in my electronic health record. I have 2 additional HIPAA compliant
programs that I use for a backup and for EMDR.
Virtual Counseling versus In-Person Counseling
Credit cards are required to be kept on file prior to evaluation appointments. Cards are stored in a secure electronic health record (Therapy
Notes) and copays are charged at the time of service. If you have a deductible, this will be charged as soon as the billed claim returns to Erin
and the exact amount is determined. If you are seen in person cash will be accepted for copays / deductibles. No checks. If your credit card
needs to be updated, Erin will send you a form through the client portal to update this. If you have a balance of more than $100.00, you will
not be seen for services until the balance is paid.
How are payments processed?
No; Erin does not provide crisis support. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please dial 911 or go to your nearest
emergency room. Due to Beautifully Unbroken Counseling, LLC, being a small practice, appointments are only scheduled during business
hours: Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm. It recommend contacting your local CISM number for support, 9-88 or 9-11.
Please note that texting and emailing is not confidential and it is advised to text and email only about scheduling issues.
Can my therapist be reached 24/7?
This is at the discretion of your Erin as every situation is unique. Please keep in mind that this is a small private practice, and there is not
access to specific testing; There are treatment facilities in the area that are equipped to help. It would be unethical to treat a condition
that cannot be properly assessed.
Do you treat alcohol and drug use?
It depends on the day. It depends on what the daily schedule looks like to ensure Bella has time to take breaks outside. If you are
uncomfortable with having a dog in your session, please have a discussion with your clinician so arrangements can be made the day
before your appointment.
*Please Note: A consent must be signed and in your chart prior to coming to session with a dog.
Does your therapy dog go to work every day?
Finding a supervisor is just as difficult as finding a therapist. A Supervisor is someone that you can trust and feel comfortable to
consult with, without hesitation. I strive to be that supervisor. One thing that I always resented within supervisors is that I could
only talk to them about clients. Sometimes, our clients "stuff" effects us and leads to vicarious trauma. Self care is so important,
as is being able to talk about transference. Although Clinical Supervision is not therapy, I do believe it is important to bring some
"pseudo-therapy" into our appointments. Just as with working with clients, confidentiality, no judgement and building trust and
rapport is incredibly important.
I do tend to geek out with documentation. It is an important part of the process whether you see clients through insurance or
private pay. As someone who has dealt with court involved clients and high-profile legal or potential legal cases, I strongly
believe charts should be well documented. This is important when it comes to chart audits as well.
I have a wide range of experience with IOP, PHP, outpatient treatment with mental health and substance abuse treatment
facilities. I have worked in community mental health, MAT programs, residential programs, half way houses, and within drug court
for both MA and CT.
I first began my career as a residential counselor working with teens and then began my career in adult outpatient. I have run
and created curriculums for groups such as anger management, healthy relationships, coping skills groups, early recovery and
maintenance recovery groups to name a few. A great part of my experience is in alcohol and drug counseling. Although I do not
do as much to the extent I did in agency work and MAT treatment; it is something that I love.
I work with adults, both men and women and now mainly focus on First Responder and Veteran Mental Health. I focus much of my
work on the job culture and humor, as this is always the first step to connecting with this population. I do see others who have
trauma and complex trauma, but my current practice is mostly First Responders and Veterans.
I also enjoy working with new mothers and female hormonal imbalances such as PPD, PMDD, and menopause. Hormonal
imbalances are often seen among first responders. I also enjoy working with clients with OCD, depression and anxiety.
I am trained in DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing and I am currently working towards my
EMDR Certification and have completed EMDR I and II and seek ongoing consultation. I have come to love applying EMDR within
my sessions for clients and I hope one day to even become a consultant.
Additionally I am training a therapy dog myself. I have always loved training dogs since I was a child and find them to be
therapeutic. In July 2023, I decided to get a dog and train it to become a therapy dog. I bought her from a very reputable breeder
that breeds working K9s. She began training with me the day after she came home and is in an extensive training program
locally. I plan to have her join my CISM team and bring her to therapy sessions. She will be certified by an accredited program.
